Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's initial title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court from spring of that year.

The win also means Medvedev has secured 21 titles at 21 different events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his last six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was over.

Yet the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.

He saved 4 early opportunities in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
